Here at the Shasta County Office of Education, we strive to be leaders in educational excellence, offering support to schools and community to ensure Shasta County students receive a quality education preparing them for high school graduation and success in career and college. We take our responsibility to be of service very seriously. What we do, why we do it, and how we do it all matter here at SCOE. We consistently aim to align our day-to-day actions with our core values and when that happens we unlock our real superpower for doing work that matters and impacts those who we serve. One of our core values is to aspire to improve and innovate. Our students, families, and school staff deserve our very best and we know that there is always something that we can do to get better. If you have ideas, suggestions, or even critical feedback that can help us improve, I invite you to reach out to me and let me know. Better yet, let’s set up a time to sit down and talk about it. If you are a community partner that would like to join arms in the work to help Shasta County kids be the best that they can be, then let’s make that happen sooner than later. I love the quote from Eric Liu that says, “The only good things that have happened have happened because people came together in a way where they took responsibility for each other and with each other.” I believe that’s true. As we come together with the needs of all of our students and families as the focus of our conversations, good things – even great things – will happen. Let’s jump all in together and bring everything we got. Let’s come together and make the 37,000 kids in Shasta County our only agenda. There is plenty of opportunity to make a difference and I cannot wait to see what we can do together.
